Trinity Alps and Vicinity, 6th edition
Trinity Alps and Vicinity, 6th edition

Explore the remote ranges of northwestern California

The Trinity Alps mountain range forms a rugged divide, tucked between the Coast Ranges and the Cascades in a half-million acres of wilderness. The Trinity Alps offer much to hikers and backpackers, with rushing streams, high waterfalls, glaciated granite peaks, sparkling lakes, and cool, deep forests. Award-winning outdoors author Mike White presents the most comprehensive hiking guide to the Trinity Alps and environs. The book describes 600 miles of trails and cross-country routes—with information on access, facilities, and supplies from nearby towns, as well as campgrounds, resorts, B&Bs, and pack stations.

Trinity Alps & Vicinity spotlights 55 of the best day hikes and backpack trips in a revised and updated edition of the guidebook that’s been an essential tool for adventurers since 1983. Each featured trip includes a detailed trail map, complete route description, level of difficulty, elevation profile, and more. Nearby Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, Russian Wilderness, Castle Crags State Park, and Castle Crags Wilderness also offer miles of trails and recreation areas to explore. With Trinity Alps & Vicinity in hand, your next outing is sure to be rugged and memorable.

About Mike White
Mike was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He learned to hike in the Cascades and honed his outdoor skills while attending Seattle Pacific University. After college, Mike relocated to the high desert of Nevada, where he was drawn to the beautiful and sunny Sierra.

In the early 1990s Mike began writing about the outdoors full time. He expanded Wilderness Press' Trinity Alps (now in its 5th edition) and then wrote his first guide, Nevada Wilderness Areas and Great Basin National Park. Subsequent books included the Wilderness Press Snowshoe Trails series, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Afoot & Afield Reno & Tahoe, and Top Trails Lake Tahoe. He collaborated on updated versions of Sierra North and Sierra South and also contributed to Backpacking California. He has written for Sunset and Backpacker magazines and the Reno Gazette-Journal. He teaches hiking and snowshoeing classes at Truckee Meadows Community College and is a featured speaker for outdoor groups.
